Man is seems like the end of the season I am just slacking on keeping you all updated. My apologies. So much has been keeping me humming around HRD.

Since its the end of the season we decided to go back to old school beat down roots. All qualified Humboldt Roller Derby skaters will be skating on their prospective teams.

We will be handing out candy to those in costume, doing some crowd participation games with prizes and a DJ dance party with us after.

Our website while still under construction is heading to a wonderful place with the help of  Jason and Patrick over at Biztech.
It should be totally finished in the next month! How exciting!!!!!

Jr Derby wow its close ya'll.

Skaters from HRD are going to put their fancy clothes on and go to Eureka City Council meeting and give and update on our progress and hopefully come up with a solution to finalize our partnership with the city to start a Jr. Derby camp! Yes that is right we are coming after your little ones.

So while Oct 24 is our last public bout, we will still be working hard in the still of the off season to make 2010 AMAZING!

But keep us in your hearts as we also travel to San Jose and San Diego to officially close out our 2009 season.

Hi folks here we are again...Yes so soon...Another bout!

 Now for the update on the many successes HRD has had recently.

To those who do not know we have two home teams yes that is right 2 home teams.  A mix of  seasoned skaters and new skaters.

On July 24th some of those new skaters bouted for the first time ever and man did they give us all  a show!  The North Jetty Bettys pulled out a win with the score close. Widow Makers have been holding the title of undefeated until last Friday.

All season these two teams have been matching up fighting for victory but on August 15th these two teams will combine to create and All star home team to battle the Exhibitionist from Eugene Oregon.

So this is a bout you will not want to miss!!!!!
While the North Jetty Bettys were bringing in a win the Redwood Rollers took Chico's Norcal Rollers by 100 points. Proving that all of our hard work , training, and team unification was a power to be reckoned with.

Just when you thought it could not get any better than the two home teams combining the Redwood Rollers will be taking on Eugene's Skatesaphrenics.

There is history to be told here. Just to lay out how hard of a battle this will be.  The Redwood Rollers 2 months ago played Bay Area's Oakland Outlaws. We lost after a strong fight by 60 plus points. ( Still one of my most favorite bouts; Its hard to be sad to loose to some bad ass classy skaters)

Not too long ago a team we have yet to play ;Sonoma County Wine Wreckers beat the Oakland Outlaws.  Why is this relevant? Because the Skatesaphrenics beat the Wine Wreckers!

So as you can see Redwood Rollers are going to have to pull together , work hard , and fiercely defend our home turf.

Get ready Humboldt for the most Amazing bout of the season! Its coming up fast so get your tickets now!!!!

If you do not know by now we are a spunky motivated bunch of ladies and gents.

We are all getting together to create another branch of our league called "drum roll please".........
The Redwood Saplings!

A Jr. Derby league for the little ladies out there. If your daughter isn't the cheer type, maybe soccer and softball are not her thing either then introduce her to our up and coming Jr. derby Camp.

We are still working out the details but we are in full swing getting it ready.

So you are stuck with me as I have tried to find folks that have more grammar skills than I but Hey I love you all and welllll you will just have to deal with my sucky English skills.

I can plumb your sink, sew you a new outfit, skate the 101, but give me a pronoun, verb, and spelling lesson, and well I am toast.

Enough said of that.

FOLKS if you did not get to go to LA and watch us at the Toyota Center you missed out.  Let me just begin by saying the Rocket Queens are the B team of the Angel City Derby Girls.
Why is this significant? Well ACDG came in second in a tournament called the BIG ONE. This tournament had the best of California Derby. San Diego came in first .

So here we are, little ol' Humboldt. We are in our first year of playing other teams. We have won some battles. Lost one to Oakland Outlaws. We thought well we will travel to LA we will learn allot.  We probably will not win. But lets play our hearts out, play our best and fight to win.

The whistle blew at half time, and wow! we are only a few points down.
WOW we can totally win, WOW they are so not better than us, In fact if we do not win now we are jerks to travel 800 plus miles and loose.

Our coach would never let us get away with it.  So we adjusted our strategy. We came in the second half with a point and we made it.
We worked together we worked hard and by the end the whistle blew and we won by 10 points...

So surreal...

The score was 98-89

The most amazing part was our fans. I even think we had the LA fans cheering for us.
We sold the most merchandise ever at an away game. It was just all fantastic.  Very... dare I say a magical moment for our league.

Humboldt Roller Derby Redwood Rollers Vs. Angel City Derby Girls Rocket Queens last 5 minutes!

        

Yes that is right folks. May 23rd is sold out!
This bout is going to be one heated battle.

The Widow Makers Vs The North Jetty Bettys. On their rosters are some sweet but tough skaters from the Oregon coast!
The rosters are small so its going to be an hour of pure spunk and fight from these ladies.

Then the Redwood Rollers take on the Oakland Outlaws.
The Oakland Outlaws are a seaoned team comeing all the way up to Humboldt to battle it out.
Will the Redwood Rollers hold there undeafeated title this season or will the Oakland Outlaws steal victory?

No one knows. But what we do know is its going to be HOT!
